Penney Farm Graveyard
Mirabile Township -- Section , Township 56, Range 29
Elmer Clark recorded in 1933 that the Penney family graves were located on the old Rev. Eli Penney plantation near Mirabile where he settled before the 1850's. He had about 80 slaves. Slaves and family were buried on the same farm. The bodies of Rev. Eli and his wife, Mary Penney were moved to the Highland Cemetery at Hamilton, Mo. He was a very early preacher in the "Hardshell Baptist" Church and was one of two first preachers in Hamilton.
